Crowns are generally used to restore broken or badly damaged teeth that can no longer support a filling, but are also highly recommended after some treatments such as root canal therapy. They are frequently used to reinforce and brace cracked teeth and are also used for cosmetic improvements.
Crowns can be made of ceramic or gold and essentially act as a new outer shell over your existing tooth structure to aid in improving strength, appearance and function.
The procedure involves carefully removing a small amount of filling and tooth structure from around the outside of the tooth creating base for the new crown to be permanently secured. A provisional crown is placed whilst your custom designed crown is constructed by expert laboratories.
Digital impressions of the preparation can be taken with our 3D camera, avoiding the need for invasive impressions. The advanced technology we use both improves your comfort and the accuracy of the final results.
